Have you heard the classic Knock Knock joke about fruit? If not, here it is:
Knock! Knock!
Who’s there?
Banana!
Banana who?
Knock! Knock!
Who’s there?
Banana!
Banana who?!
Knock! Knock!
Who’s there?!!
Orange!
Orange who?
Orange ya glad I didn’t say, “Banana”?
That silly joke always makes me smile! I had plenty of other smiles last week, when I was honored to hear Dr. Scott Sicherer speak to my local food allergy group. Dr. Sicherer is a clinical researcher at the Jaffe Food Allergy Institute in Manhattan. As the chief of the pediatric Division on Allergy & Immunology, he is a friendly, walking encyclopedia of helpful, current, food allergy information.
I want to share his comment about how a person with a birch/pollen allergy may get an itchy mouth from eating raw apples and peaches! I found this food connection to be very interesting. Is anyone personally familiar with others?
However, since many of us busy singles begin our mornings with a quick bowl of cereal, sliced banana and (in my home) rice milk, orange ya glad I didn’t say banana?
