Road Trip Off of the Highway for a Great Date
- 15
- Aug
Hello Single living with Food Allergies:
Isn’t August a beautiful month? It seems like August is our final salute to summer, because we know that Labor Day has moved within easy sight. Peanut allergy? Fish allergy? Dairy allergy? Tree Nut allergy? Another food allergy? As a single living with food allergies, you may not want to view August as a time of BBQs and picnics on the beach. Instead of worrying about cross contamination, open your car windows, start your road trip, feel the breeze on your face and enjoy a great date!
When is the last time that you took a road trip off of the highway, on a date? AND when is the last time that you took a road trip off of your smart phone? “Did I just read “off of [my] smart phone?”, you may wonder. Yes, you did. Do you realize that many of us use our smart phones 52 times every day, according to Deloitte’s 2018 Global Mobile Consumer Survey? That’s a lot of checking…and it could be intrusive on a date.
For fun, talk together as you choose which direction to drive. Together, pick a destination that’s 30-45 minutes away. (Remember that you want to talk.) Confirm that your destination is allergen- free. Then turn off the Notifications switch on your smart phones. Yes, refuse to be overplugged for your date! It won’t be easy in the beginning.
If either your date or you can’t manage to take this step away from being overplugged, ask yourself, “Am I dating the right person for a long term relationship?” Perhaps communication challenges may lie ahead?
What’s your opinion about your future road trip, single?
Safe travels,
Matty
